How Do I Keep My Copier Maintenance Free?
You could start by cleaning the glass ,you could use glass cleaner or alcohol . Also if your copier has a Document feeder clean the white belt with alcohol, do not use another type of cleaner. If you use another type of cleaner the feeder might start jamming paper.
If you notice that the copies are coming out with dirty marks , run a couple of copies if the marks stays on the same spot on your copies then you need to check your original document if the mark is not there then clean the glass.
If you notice that the mark moves than its an internal problem and you should have a Technician look at your copier.
How do I keep my copier from jamming?
There are many reasons a copier might jam. One could be the paper could be defective to prevent this always fan the paper before installing it into the cassette. Keep the unused paper in the wrapping in which it came in, never leave the paper out of its wrapping. If left out the paper starts collecting moisture and starts getting worn. If you put this paper in machine you will start having problems with jamming and also copy quality.
Another type of jam could be at the exit usually in the form of an accordion . If this happens Check for foreign objects or clean the picker fingers or pickoffs ( these are usually right after the heating section you will see about 4 or 5 aligned with heating section. They need to have a spring action on them and toner free.) Be careful not to touch the heating unit it is very hot.
If these suggestion does not prevent the copier from jamming call our Service dept and have them look at the copier.
The quality of the copies are not the same as when I first bought the machine
There is a couple of reasons for this. As you use the copier you start creating wear on the machine. Think of it as a car the more miles you put on your car the more maintenance your car will need ( oil changes, brake pads, tires). Your copier is just like a car, parts need to be replaced periodically If you have a personnel copier and start having copy quality problems you could fix it yourself by purchasing a new or remanufactured copy cartridge. These cartridges usually comes with the drum, corona wires , developer and toner. All these component have a rated life span and its conveniently all in one cartridge that you could install yourself.
If you have a mid to high volume copier. You could call our service dept. and explain your problem.
If you notice that the black print on your copies come out gray 80% of the time you need to replace the developer.
If you notice the print comes out unclear or distorted images usually means you need to replace the drum.
If your copies come out with white lines usually means that your corona wires need to be replaced and your copier cleaned.
If you notice black lines, This could be do to a couple of reasons. Thick black lines is usually you drum blade, you have the option to either clean the blade or replace it, 95 % of the time when you clean the blade within a couple of copies the line will return. That is why we suggest to replace the blade.
A very thin line could either be your drum, heating roller or on some model corona wire. These should be checked by a technician.

How often do ozone filters need to be replaced?
Laser printers with corona wires generate ozone. Ozone is corrosive and its harmful to rubber parts and to people's lungs. For this reason printers with corona wire have filters. These can become worn or clogged over time. Periodically they should be replaced every 50,000 prints or once every year.
How can paper jams be reduced?

Try to print labels using the straight print path if possible Use the manual feed tray (if available) and rear exit (if available) to minimize the number of turns the label sheet has to make.

Be sure that when you insert the paper in the cassette that you insert it beneath corner tabs.
How are toner cartridges changed?
When a new cartridge arrives make sure it is the right cartridge for your printer. Next check if the cartridge is visually not damaged or leaking toner. If it does not pass you inspection return the cartridge before inserting it in the printer.
Make sure you remove the seal before inserting the cartridge and move it side to side a couple of times. Next make a test copy to make sure the print quality is satisfactory, also your test copy lets you know exactly how many total pages the printer has printed. You should write the date on the test sheet and keep it for your records. You could keep track of how many prints your getting out of the cartridge.
How will I know when to replace my cartridge?
You will know when the cartridge needs to be replaced usually a low toner signal will come out on the display and the printing will become noticeably lighter . At this point remove the cartridge from the printer a shake it a couple of times and reinstall it, this will give you an additional 100 prints giving you time to call your supplier.

Recycled laser cartridge technology has reached such a competitive level where even the same supplies (toners, drums) are also used by the manufacturers.
It does not make sense to pay more for a new cartridge when you can get the same cartridge recycled at a cheaper price. With a new cartridge you are just paying more money for the manufacturers name.
